英國 Durham 警方 19 日搜索位於 Darlington 的一棟住宅，懷疑居住其中的團體 “Kaotians” 強迫拘留一名加拿大女子，但搜索之後並未發現不法證據。該團體首領 Lee Thomposon （31歲）自稱為訓練奴隸的主人，對 BBC 記者表示成員全為自願參與：「我們只是以不同方式生活的人，這沒什麼錯。我們不傷人，大家都是自願的。」
Goreans 與 BDSM
Kaotians 為 Gorean 團體之一，後者為一個與 BDSM 有密切關係的次文化。BBC 估計全球約有兩萬五千名 Goreans。他們模仿哲學與古典文學教授 John Norman 於 1967 年起發表的系列小說「Gor 年代紀（Chronicles of Gor）」之中的生活模式。該系列小說描寫虛擬世界 Gor 之中兩國的爭鬥。在 Gor 之中，男性為統治者，奴隸大多為女性。有人認為這和 Goreans 次文化中的男性沙文主義傾向很接近。這套小說曾因流露出的憎女情節招致批評。
Gorean 次文化中的支配服從與權力交換與 BDSM 頗有共通，但綜觀來看與後者也有差異之處。有些 BDSM 人認為 Goreans 不夠重視「安全、理智、知情同意」的信條，並且對 Goreans 之中普遍男尊女卑的文化不以為然。Goreans 則認為既然他們並不僅是在做暫時的角色扮演，所謂的 “safe word” 自然不適用在他們的關係之中；他們也不認為一些引發極端痛楚、或過分偏重肉慾的 BDSM 行為可與 Gorean 混為一談。
據 BBC 報導全球約有兩萬五千名 Goreans; 衛報與泰晤士報則把此數目報導為英國一地的 Goreans 人數。
Kaotians
一名 29 歲的加拿大女子從網路上發現 Kaotians 之後前往英國加入活動。她日前與美國友人連絡時提及她想回家，但已經燒了護照與機票。該友人於是報警處理。不過警方搜索後並未發現犯罪證據。同時，Essex 的一名父親也報警他的 18 歲兒子參與該團體，但根據警方調查發現事屬當事人意願，警方無權干涉。
Thomposon 的行為在當地曾引起爭議。他曾因帶著配上狗鏈的女奴上街，而被一家肉鋪視為拒絕往來戶。但他認為「有人說我有問題，但我不覺得我做的是壞事。大家沒有理由怕我。我不會傷害任何人。在性的方面，那些女孩們會聽從任何命令，不過這都是他們自願的，也是安全的。」
「有些女人有扶侍人的渴望。大部分人以為這只是性，但其實這是關於她們的每一個動作。這些都是為主人而做的。」「很多女孩想來嘗試一下。她們認為這很刺激，不過實際上這沒那麼容易。她們受夠了之後就離開了。」「大家都忽略了，即使在我們的組織裡（如果你要這樣稱呼的話），女人也可以是自由人或是女主。我們不反對這樣。不過我們這裡大部分的女人都是女奴，因為女人有被支配的天性。」
圈內迴響
搜索事件之後，BDSM 圈內人也有了一些討論，例如 Thomposon 在公眾場合實施調教的挑釁行為是否適宜。對於主流媒體的錯誤報導也有批評與回應。

Gor . . . I remember reading my first Gor novel by John Norman (actually a professor names John Lange) back in my high school days in 1979 . . . for some reason, the whole thing was rather appealing . . . albeit, the movies are horrible. I used to have a full collection of first editions of the novels but unfortunately left them in the wrong box in the wrong garage when I came to Taiwan . . . evidently, they were damaged by flooding. Back when I was running my “experimental hypnosis for women” groups, I was requested to create a couple MP3s for the ladies in the group related to Gorean themes . . . they especially liked the “Gorean Kajira’s Dance” piece . . . wonderful imagery . . . warning, the novels are very very male dominant stuff. For women, I would strongly suggest skipping the first few and going to the ones that are written from the perspective of female protagonists (Slave Girl of Gor, Kajira of Gor, and the like). The online communities related to Gorean dances are wonderful . . . do check the “positions” stuff. I have taught Gorean material as part of my graduate seminar in Literature of the Fantastic (Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror) as part of my unit on alternative sexualities in contemporary fantasy. The Kaotians are not the only group of folks who have taken the Gorean fantasy to the real world . . . there is a “tribe” in New Zealand as well, albeit most of the RL groups do indeed go completely consensual . . . unlike the novels, there are no kidnappings of lithe and voluptuous Earth girls.
